More than Ropes: Gleistein sets sail for a sustainable future
With new environmentally friendly ropes at the boot Düsseldorf
Finally, the boot Düsseldorf is back – and it is an exciting opportunity for water sports enthusiasts to meet the whole market of suppliers. As Bremen-based rope specialist Gleistein approaches its 200th anniversary, the company is making a clear commitment to sustainability by introducing the new environmentally friendly products, ReLite and ReBob. These new ropes offer an insight into a future where being close to nature, comfort, and an uncompromising sailing experience can coexist. You can see and touch these and many other products at Lindemann’s stand H21 and Frisch’s stand C76, both located in Hall 10. The boot in Düsseldorf will be open from January 21st to 29th.
Sustainability has always been an integral principle for Gleistein. The internationally successful company has traditionally followed its values of responsibility and foresight with outstanding product longevity and resource-saving production. Years ago, Gleistein was the first rope manufacturer in the world to convert all its ropes with high-quality Dyneema® to the technically fully equivalent bio-based variant. Now, Gleistein is taking another big step forward with the groundbreaking product lines ReLite and ReBob.
ReLite tames bio-based Dyneema® fibres with a reinforced cover of high-quality rPET for use on board of cruiser yachts with conventional fittings. As a halyard and sheet with minimal stretch, ReLite brings maximum control for ambitious sailors. The rPET used by Gleistein, with the characteristics of well-known polyester fibres, gives recycled beverage bottles in highest purity a second life. ReBob relies entirely on environmentally friendly rPET. In combination with the proven construction of the comfort-oriented Gemini-X sheet, ReBob is a durable mooring line and at the same time an excellent all-purpose line.
Another gap in the market is closed by JammerTwin®. Alongside the successful MegaTwin 07, this new rope brings Dyneema® power at an extremely attractive price for cruisers with performance aspirations. The special feature: JammerTwin uses the cover of the purebred racing line RunnerTwin 99 in a refined fibre mix with Technora® and polyester providing outstanding grip for best hold in cleats and a long service life.
